Abstract

A new method for viscosity measurement has been proposed based on the acousto-optic modulation on FBG. Theoretical analysis shows the bandwidth of the modulated FBG is related to the viscosity of liquid around the FBG. The experimental results show the sensitivity of the bandwidth as the viscosity increases from 1 mPa·s to 5.5 mPa·s.
