High Capacity Coherent Systems Using Same-Wavelength Bidirectional Transmission

Abstract

The same-wavelength bidirectional transmission in coherent systems is modeled and tested for high capacity communications. It is shown that a maximum capacity gain of 100% can be achieved by 4×50km link, compared to unidirectional transmission.
