On-chip 1×2 Multimode Optical Switch Switched at the Wavelength Granularity

Abstract

A silicon 1×2 optical switch capable of switching among four waveguide modal channels at the wavelength granularity is demonstrated. The on-chip insertion losses and crosstalk are –2.1~–12.3 dB and –10.8~–34.1 dB at 1550 nm respectively.
