Passive Q-switched Mode-locked Operation Of LD Pumped Tm,Ho:LLF Laser

Abstract

In this experiment, using a typical X-type cavity with laser diode (LD) are used as pump source, MoS2 saturable absorber were added to Tm,Ho:LiLuF4 (Tm,HO:LLF) all-solid-state laser to realize Q-switched mode-locked operation. Under 9% output coupler, the light threshold is 2.65W, and the maximum output power of continuous light is 1793 mW. When the pump power is more than 7.2 W, it enters the Q-switched mode-locked operation. When the pump power reaches 20 W, the maximum Q-switched mode-locked output power is 839 mW, the central wavelength is 1895 nm, the repetition frequency is 53.76 MHz, corresponding the maximum single pulse energy is 15.6 nJ. The modulation depth in Q-switching envelopes is close to 100%. Results show that MoS2 can be used as a saturated absorber in 2 μm laser mode locking. © 2019 The Author(s)
