Determining the Rotational Mobility of a Single Molecule from a Single Image: A Numerical Study

Abstract

We propose a widefield microscopy technique for measuring how much a fluorescent single molecule ‘wobbles’ or rotates about a fixed axis. Our method may be used to understand rotational dynamics on timescales much faster than the framerate of the image sensor used to record fluorescence images.
