Abstract

The Argus laser at LLNL has been used as the 1064-nm driver for 9-cm clear aperture KDP crystals, which convert the laser energy from its fundamental frequency to the second harmonic, 532 nm, with an external efficiency of 60 %, or to the third harmonic, 355 nm, with an external efficiency of 55% (Fig. 1). The external efficiency includes Fresnel losses from the crystal faces.
