Abstract
Analog and digital coherent-optical filtering methods allow recognition of object patterns. For each pattern to be recognized one matched spatial filter is necessary. Therefore, coherent optical filtering methods need a large number of filters to recognize wide variations In pattern. To overcome this disadvantage, methods have been developed to construct analog and digital component filters each matched to a number of object patterns.
