Noise cancellation in pyroelectric self-scanning IR detector arrays

Abstract

Solid state pyroelectric IR detector arrays have provided a long-awaited breakthrough in instrumentation for IR imaging. Profiling of IR laser beams can now be done with wide dynamic range, high linearity and uniformity, and high spatial resolution. The spacing of the detector array elements provides an excellent match to the resolution of many commercial IR spectrometers. For pulsed applications or rapidly changing radiation, the detector array gives instantaneous data over the full spectrum. Spiricon pyroelectric IR detector arrays are a series of high reliability hybrid integrated circuits. They consist of a monolithic array of pyroelectric detector elements coupled to an integrated circuit array of self-scanning FET multiplexing , switches, as shown in Fig. 1.
