Abstract

The efficiency and speed of electrochromic display devices are determined primarily by the amount of material which must be deposited to achieve the desired optical density. The best practical devices using current technology and materials require at least 6 mC/cm2 to achieve suitable contrast ratios. We described here a device which reduces this by a factor of 10 or more by reducing the thickness of the electrochromic layer.
