Measurements of ozone and aerosol profiles with the NASA Langley airborne DIAL Iidar system

Abstract

The high-power lunabie airborne DIAL lidar system developed at NASA Langley Research Center has been used to make the first range-resolved measurements from an aircraft of ozone and aerosol profiles in the lower troposphere. The airborne DIAL lidar system has been discussed in Rets. 1 and 2. It consists of two high-conversion-efficiency dye lasers optically pumped by two frequency-doubled high-power Nd:YAG lasers.
