Abstract

Recently liquid crystals have been successfully tested in the development of nonlinear optical devices because of their high optical anisotropies. In the isotropic phase, optical and/or dc field-induced ordering and the associated refractive-index change have formed the basis for second and third harmonic generations, nonlinear Fabry-Perot action, and more recently wave front conjugations via degenerate.
