Abstract
The discovery of operating conditions under which volumetric deactivation of the lower laser level takes place1,2 has permitted the operation of large bore copper vapor lasers at high average powers. We have tested two longitudinal discharge devices with bore diameters of 6.0 and 7.0 cm and achieved output average powers as high as 85 W.
