Abstract

We report a new scheme fox achieving traveling-wave operation of modelocked ring lasers, Auto correlation traces as short as 0.7 psec (FWHM) have been obtained, The novelty of this modelocking scheme relies on the use of an intracavity synchronously driven amplitude modulator which acts as both a tuning element and a dynamic uni-directional element.
