Abstract

Two sealed-off CO2 TEA lasers have been developed for military applications. A basic double-discharge device has a pulsed energy output of 300-400 mj/pulse which is aimed at range finder and designator applications. A folded resonator configuration uses two pairs of transverse electrodes and achieves a double-pulse capability with variable pulse separation for crosswind sensing applications.
