Abstract

We present a multilevel optical feedback scheme capable of 2-D/storage of bright or dark spots. Indeed the scheme has the capability of arrays of such storage units. Feedback1,2 in optical systems is art area of active interest because it leads to bistability3 and information storage on one hand and to control of linearity in optical systems on the other hand. Here a new feedback scheme is presented using a Hughes liquid crystal light valve operating in an optically controlled real-time diffraction grating mode as a central element.4
