Abstract

Holographic laser beam scanners (short holo-scanners) deflect light by diffraction from varying holograms. A concept for 1-D scan paths will be presented here. It is based on the readout of a 1-D hologram by an anamorphic optical system. This configuration exhibits many useful features such as any 1-D discrete or continuous scan path, any 1-D scan spot/pattern, many scan spots, high speed, and high light efficiency. These and other features (e.g,, insensitivity against wobble), will be discussed in general and in view of special applications. We shall also consider various geometrical arrangements.
