Abstract

The HgBr laser is a promising candidate for application in airborne bathymetry. The requirements for this application are good laser efficiency (>1 %), short-output pulse duration (<10-nsec FWHM), high repetition rates (~1 kHz), pulse energies in excess of 5 mJ, and a compact, sturdy, and reliable laser design.
