Abstract

It has been demonstrated that by using a non-collinear second harmonic generation (NSHG) arrangement and resolving the spatial distribution of the generated beam, one is able to obtain directly the temporal autocorrelation function of each individual input ultrashort pulse.1,2 The NSHG method has advantages over the streak camera method and the two-photon fluorescence method. However, in Ref. 1 a film was used as a recorder. Thus this arrangement could not be used to perform a real-time measurement. Instead of the film in Ref. 2 an optical multichannel analyzer (OMA) was utilized with very high sensitivity to operate in a real-time mode. But the 0MA system is as expensive as a streak camera.
