X-ray laser experiments at the Novetle laser facility

Abstract

We shall discuss a set of measurements which are designed to verify the existence of amplified spontaneous emission at photon energies of 42.3,53.6, 119.0, and 153.0 eV. Hagelstein1 has de- signed x-ray taser schemes which utilize pumping from two of Novette’s beams operated with cylindrical optics at a wavelength of 0.532 μm and a pulse length of 100-psec FWHM. The energy In the Novette laser beam is converted into x rays via interaction with a set of thin flashlamp foils (see Fig. 1)
