Abstract

Two-laser modulated absorption spectrometry is a sensitive technique for measuring line shapes and shifts with high spectral resolution. We have demonstrated the applicability of this technique to the study of line shapes in partially ionized gases by measuring the Stark broadening and shift of the 4p-7s and 4p-5d excited-state transitions of potassium in a potassium-seeded Ar wall-stabilized arc source.
