Abstract

We recently reported the observation of anomalous polarization coupling effects occurring in injection-locked TEA CO2 lasers, deduced from studies of the injection detuning parameter in varying conditions of polarization and injection power. These results were subsequently exploited in the development of an innovative refinement of the technique of injection locking for single-longitudinal mode (SLM) generation,2 facilitating optical isolation between the TEA laser and cw injection source and maximizing useful energy extraction from the TEA system.
