Abstract

Optically pumped molecular lasers operating on vibrational-rotational transitions are useful sources of mid-IR radiation in the 12-30-μm spectral region in which there are few other simple powerful sources. These lasers also display an interesting range of kinetic effects, and the observed laser action frequency clarifies the spectroscopy of the molecule.
