Abstract

The flashlamp-pumped waveguide slab dye laser shows several advantages with respect to a standard cylindrical ceil laser when high energy and higher average power are needed. The planar structure of the cell is more compatible with the transverse dye flow needed for high-repetition-rate operation and can be easily pumped by an array of flashlamps. In this way average powers up to 200 W were obtained1 while still maintaining good tunability and narrowband operation.
