Abstract
Excimer molecules consisting of a metal atom and a noble gas or mercury atom have promise for efficient discharge-excited tunable laser action in the visible.1 Work concentrated initially on NaXe (Ref. 1) and later on T1Hg (Ref. 2); the latter is at present apparently the most suitable candidate. However, laser action has not yet been reported for any of these systems.
