Abstract
A transparent plasma electrode formed in low-pressure ionized gas has been demonstrated to act as a conductive coating to allow the uniform charging of the optical faces of an electrooptic material.1 In this manner, large electric fields can be applied, to large aperture, high-aspect ratio Pockels cells and other optical switches which require axial electric fields.2 A new type of electrooptic switch with potential application in highpower laser systems is based on electrooptically tuned second harmonic generation.3
