Abstract
Mid-IR solid-state laser sources operating with high efficiency and high average power are needed for a variety of applications. In this paper we describe a 2 micron laser system which has demonstrated 100mJ TEMoo in Q-switched operation at 100 Hz pumped by a single tungsten lamp at ∼ 80% of its rated 1 Kw power loading, This represents a significant advance over the performance achievable with Nd technology.
