Abstract
The threshold characteristics of long-wavelength semiconductor lasers are influenced to a great extent by enhanced Auger recombination in lower band-gap semiconductor materials. A quantitative understanding of this loss mechanism and its dependence upon material parameters are, therefore, important for further device improvement.
