Abstract

A well-designed alexandrite laser must meet simultaneous requirements of energy, pulse width, repetition rate, spatial mode, tuning range, and bandwidth. For industrial applications, the issues of reliability and lifetime must also be addressed. The development and performance of a 250-Hz 100-150-W system (Fig. 1) are presented with emphasis on meeting these goals.
