Abstract
Various simple photoresist lenses have been fabricated on the end of a single-mode optical fiber (cutoff wavelength ≈ 690 nm) using the photolithographic technique.1 Negative photoresist 747 (CS 105) was used as a photosensitive polymer, and a mercury arc lamp was used as an UV light source. Figure 1 shows the geometrical profile of a microlens taken by a scanning electron microscope. Both spherical and more complex convex lenses are easily fabricated.
