Abstract

The recent renaissance in research on new solid-state laser materials has made several new fluorescent materials available. Many of these materials may be considered for fluorescence converters to improve the flashlamp-pumping efficiency of Nd lasers. The subject of this paper is restricted to solid fluorescence converter materials for Nd-doped phosphate glass zigzag slab lasers. Both theoretical and small-scale experimental studies have been performed.
