Abstract
Continuing progress in lead-salt laser diode performance improvements, especially in higher-temperature operation, will play a very significant role in the future direction of lead-salt laser utilization. Currently, lead-salt lasers enjoy a significant period of growth in the area of scientific research where per mode tunability is a most important parameter. This paper will attempt to relate present progress to the future growth of this technology.
