Abstract
The properties of the laser employed, such as its high pulse energy, low divergence, and high spectral purity, make this light source very suitable for remote sensing in the atmosphere. A frequently applied technique for measuring trace constituents is the differential absorption lidar (DIAL), which uses two laser lines having different absorption cross sections for the gas being studied.
