Abstract

Nonlinear Fabry-Perot etalons are well suited for accomplishing high-speed high-density all-optical logic functions. Presently, semiconductors appear to be the best choice of material due to their large nonlinearities, relaxation times in the nanosecond to picosecond range, and the already highly developed manufacturing technology brought about by the microelectronics industry.
