Abstract

Optical processors performing a great number of multiplications and additions in parallel are suitable to matrix operations.1–2 In the incoherent optical system for real-time multiple matrix multiplication, being inherently the analog processor, the accuracy and dynamic range are limited severely. On the other hand, the digital encoding for optical processors has been investigated recently3–5 to overcome these difficulties. We describe two methods of spatial encoding for the optical matrix multiplier we have previously proposed.
