Abstract
Imaging spectrometry is becoming established as a major new concept in remote sensing instrumentation. Instruments are in development for both earth remote sensing and planetary exploration. An imaging spectrometer acquires images simultaneously in multiple contiguous spectral bands.1–3 These data can be used for direct identification of surface materials through their unique spectral signatures.
