Abstract
A phase-locked laser diode array1–4 seems to be a reliable coherent light source for many laser diode applications. In view of the practical use of a phased array, control of the lateral mode (array mode), as well as high output light power, is an important subject, because a lot of applications require a diffraction-limited single-lobed far-field pattern. However, the array-mode control has not yet been achieved perfectly or reproductively.
