Abstract

A single spectral mode with output power in excess of 15 mW in 20-ns pulses has been obtained from an AIGaAs laser coupled to an external Bragg-reflecting waveguide. This is, to our knowledge, the highest power reported from a dynamically stabilized diode laser. Furthermore, we find that the ratio of the power in the fundamental spectral mode to the sidelobes and spontaneous emission background is of the order of 40 dB.
