Abstract
Up to now, excimer lasers have been proposed and tested only in a few medical areas such as laser angioplasty and ophthalmic surgery, where high-power UV radiation can be used to induce organic tissue ablation without undesirable thermal effects and to produce clean cuts with extremely high control of the etching depth.
