Abstract

Recent calculations1–3 have Indicated that efficient two-photon-resonant sum-frequency mixing in Hg vapor is possible for the production of VUV laser radiation. We report here a high-efficiency tunable single-frequency 130-nm laser system producing more than 0.2 mJ/pulse. The nearterm program goals are to produce 1 mj/pulse at 130 nm and to validate the modeling codes for the four-wave-mixing process.
