Abstract
In the last few years, the cw optically pumped ammonia laser emitting between 10.7 and 14 μm has been extensively investigated.1–3 With more than 100 emission lines, it becomes complementary to the CO2 laser in the mid-IR region, and it is important to study its frequency tunability. We recently used the Stark effect to tune the laser frequency by more than 250 MHz.4 Here we report on a 400-MHz frequency tunability obtained by pressure broadening.
