Abstract

The moving slab principle1 is one possibility for increasing the average power throughput in a laser that is limited by the thermal load handling capability of the gain medium. It is especially interesting for glass lasers, since glass slabs of high optical quality can be obtained in large sizes, but the thermal load they can take is relatively low compared with crystal lasers.
