Abstract
Semiconductor lasers have greatly impacted the laser market in areas ranging from compact disk players and telecommunications to solid-state laser pumps and illuminators. The expansion in the market place is in part due to an increased reliability from devices which emit at higher-power levels. Combined improvements in the device processing as well as crystal growth technologies have resulted in the development and production of highpower, high-efficiency, and high-reliability semiconductor lasers.
