Self-focusing and bistability by liquid suspensions of supermicroparticles

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

Liquid suspensions of supermicroparticles have been observed to have nonlinear optical effects. Self-focusing and bistability are studied, and two kinds of these supermicroparticles are used in the experiments. Their diameters are no more than 200 Å. Two visible Ar+ laser beams of 5145- and 4880-Å wavelengths are used.
