Abstract
The Raman gain experienced by a pulse train has been shown to increase during the train in certain conditions, eventually evolving into a dynamic steady state with an amplification that can be many orders of magnitude above the single-pulse gain. We have previously reported on the conditions required for gain buildup to occur, the characteristics of the gain buildup and experimental observations of gain increase up to 4 orders of magnitude.1,2
