Abstract

We report the measurement of electrooptic (EO) constants for a thin polycarbonate (PC) film doped with 4-diethylamino-4′-nitrostilbene (DEANS) molecules. DEANS is a diethyl derivative of aminonitrostilbene, and it is expected to have a large optical nonlinearity. We made a Fabry-Perot (F.-P.) cavity, which contains the polymer thin film doped with DEANS molecules. The cavity mirrors of the F.-P. cavity are thin aluminum films, which are also used as electrodes to apply an electric field on the cavity medium.
