Control and optimization of self-pumped phase conjugate reflectivity using incoherent erasure

Abstract

There is a substantial interest in self-pumped photorefractive phase conjugate mirrors due to the novel physics of operation in their potential use for devices. We use an incoherent erase beam to modify the grating formation in a self-pumped phase conjugate mirror (SP PCM), a technique which has been used for both device applications1-3 and diagnostics.4 We have used selective erasure to produce significant Increases in the phase conjugate reflectivity.
