Production of a laser communication satellite cross link system

Open Access Open Access

Abstract

We describe the key features of a Nd:YAG laser communication system design for two-way communication and mutual tracking between satellites in geosynchronous orbit. A link analysis and key component allocations are presented. Considerations associated with production of high reliability, complex electrooptical systems are discussed. Representative test results of first production units are presented.
