Abstract

Only recently has it been demonstrated that transpectral inelastic scattering from the water molecule is an important process in clear ocean waters,1 and it may be important at certain wavelengths in coastal waters.2 The use of the water Raman return signal with laser probes of the ocean is long-standing.3
