Optical switching using fiber ring reflectors

Abstract

Otsuka first proposed the ring interferometer as an optical logic device.1 Experiments employing imbalanced Sagnac interferometers in the negative dispersion regime were performed by Blow et al.2 and Islam et al.3 In these experiments, the linear imbalance establishes a nonzero linear transmission.
