Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering (SBS) was first suggested as a method of coherently combining multiple beams by Basov et al.1 Experimental and theoretical results defining the conditions in which an effective SBS beam combination can be obtained for two beams were presented in Ref. 2. The results presented here define the piston and tilt conditions for an effective beam combination of up to nineteen segments.
